The Gingermint Shawl is a top-down, symmetrical triangle shawl featuring a variety of textural stitches to create a meditative knitting experience and visually interesting final accessory. Simple slip stitch colorwork and a twisted rib border provide a bold finish. Originally designed for A Verb for Keeping Warm’s 2024 Pro-Verbial Club, Jen Peck’s gorgeous design is now available for all.
The Gingermint uses one full skein and one half skein of Annapurna, a sumptuous merino and cashmere blend sport weight yarn that is perfect for creating well-defined textured stitches.
To create Peppermint and those bright pink speckles, we use a special mordanting process and cochineal. The Ginger Green Tea colorway is very hard to photograph as it shifts easily in the light. It is made using a combination of fustic, weld, and logwood purple. So in some light, it looks very dark green, and in other light it is a deep, moody, earthy brown. It is fascinating to compare this color and how it appears inside your house to what it looks like in natural light outside. These subtle shifts are what make natural dyes so fascinating.
