The Canyonlands Vest is a waterfall style vest with a flowy, open silhouette. The center back features mosaic colorwork. The side edges and bottom hem feature mosaic colorwork and an i-cord bind-off. The neckband is worked in 2×2 ribbing.
“As soon as I touched the gorgeous yarn I used for this vest, a design began to form in my mind. It needed to be cozy yet flowy, earthy yet refined: signatures of A Verb for Keeping Warm’s vibe, if not my own, as well 🙂 You can think of this garment as a wearable shawl, and it’s just about as easy to knit! Constructed sideways in two halves, the only shaping required is at the underarm. A panel of mosaic colorwork at the center back will keep your attention, and plenty of stockinette will allow you to relax and enjoy the rhythmic movements that make us knitters insist on ‘just one more row.'”
~ Briana
In this pattern, Briana used Floating, Wild Bloom, and Soft Current. All three yarns are incredibly soft with a wonderful drape as showcased perfectly in Briana’s gorgeous design. All yarn is naturally-dyed by hand in our Oakland, California studio. Wild Bloom is a wispy yet substantial lace-weight yarn. The combination of baby alpaca, silk, merino, and yak fibers create an exceptionally soft halo that feels like a warm hug. Wild Bloom’s pale grey base color adds depth and complexity to our naturally-dyed hues. Soft Current, made of suri alpaca, is incredibly fluffy yet lightweight adding a gorgeous halo. And Floating is one of or most popular yarns for good reason; soft yet durable, with a gorgeous sheen that elevates every design.
